On 21 December 2001 National Privacy legislation came into effect that controls the collection, use and disclosure of personal and sensitive information.
Personal information is information about an individual whose identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained from the information collected and held.
During the period that Melville Cares provides service to you, we will have access to personal and sensitive information, which is necessary for us to manage your services. The information that would be considered personal and sensitive and which is used as part of the service provision process is as follows: Personal details collected at the time of assessment include name, age and address and Sensitive details collected at the time of assessment include race, disability (if any) and personal health status.
All information collected form a part of the assessment process in ensuring you, the client, receives appropriate assistance in accordance with identified needs. The collected information is stored under lock and key in accordance with legal requirements.
